White Tufted Ottoman Ideas
White tufted ottoman – Upholstering an ottoman is a great way to learn basic skills dress. Ottoman design is quite simple and it does cover ottoman equally straightforward. For your first piece dress, choose a solid-color upholstery fabric that is durable, but not too thick for your home sewing machine. Look for a stain-resistant fabric that drapes well.
Remove the existing cover with a seam ripper, a claw hammer and tongs. Disassemble the cover at every seam and make notes on how the pieces are sewn and how they were attached to the frame. Iron the seams on the existing cap so that each piece is flat. Label each pattern as you create it and note any darts, pleats or other difficult sewing elements. Many white tufted ottomans are welting between the seams. Welting is a cord wound in the fabric. If your ottoman has welting, you must make welting first.
Make welting by measuring the length of the cord, you have to wrap all the way around the ottoman. Place your decorator fabric on the cutting mat. Cut from the upper right to the lower left corner. Attach your strips together. Place one strip vertically upwards. Place a second strip downwardly and horizontally to the left side that covers the lower edge of the vertical strip.
Sew from upper left to lower right edge and trim the seam close. Make a continuous ribbon long enough to cover all your cords. Turn down the white tufted ottoman upside. Bring your fabric around to the underside of the Ottoman and staple or tack the fabric in place. If the bottom is open, you should stick black fabric with the ends tucked into the bottom to hide your fabric staples.
